Traveling to
Sabang Scuba Diving Paradise - Philippines
Sabang (Puerto Gallera) in the Philippines is very easy to get
to in 2 legs or possibly 3 depending on what time you fly into Manila.
The first leg is to get to Manila. This is no
hardship but depending on what time you fly i n you will need to take 2 or 3 legs
for your Philippine journey. The second leg of the journey is to get from Manila
to Batangas and the port that the ferry will leave from to get you to Mindoro
(Oriental Mindoro) and Sabang. The last ferry of the day leaves at approximately
17:00 hrs. This means that you can land at Manila airport NO LATER than 13:00
hrs in order to safely make the last ferry. You'll have 30 minutes - 1 hour at
the airport with baggage collection and passport control. Then there is a 2 - 3 hour transfer down to Batangas. If you arrive later than this time I would
suggest taking a hotel in manila for the evening and then heading down to
Batangas and Sabang the following day. A fairly good, clean and reasonably
priced hotel/guesthouse is Saint
Illians Inn in Manila.
From Manila to Batangas is easy - there are
several methods:
A
convenient and safe way to get to Sabang from
Manila
is the Sikat bus and ferry service
(around 500 Pesos). Departure time is daily at
8:00 A.M.
from the City-state Tower Hotel in
1315 A.Mabini Street
in Ermita,
Manila
. The Sikat service will bring you to
Batangas Pier by bus and from there directly to Puerto Galera harbor or
Sabang
Beach
by ferry.
There
are several regular bus services leaving from the major bus terminals in
Pasay
near
Manila
airport to bring you to Batangas pier.
From Batangas pier, there are several ferry services available to get you to
Puerto Galera town and
Sabang
Beach
. Guarded parking is available at the
Batangas pier. The last ferry will leave Batangas by
5:00 P.M. The outrigger boats to Sabang
beach are 120 Pesos.
Alternatively,
if traveling with a www.learn-in-asia.com
friends trip,
Manila
airport or any Hotel in
Manila
. It's approximately $50 for the van.
between a group of people this is very cheap and well worth doing for peace of
mind. We had the transport pre-arranged during our August 2004 trip and found it
to be very efficient and worth while.
