Pattaya Scuba Treasure Hunt - 2004

Photo pages:

The weekend of 20th & 21st November saw the 2004 Mermaids Treasure Hunt in Pattaya. Each year the treasure hunt is held for all to enjoy. Our suppliers and Mermaids donate prizes worth approximately 80,000 baht (approx $2000US) ranging from diving bags, BCD's, a computer to disposable cameras, 3 days and 2 nights accommodation on Koh Chang and discount film development etc.

There are 50 small treasure pots planted on Koh Nok in Pattaya. 25 are laid on the east side and 25 on the west side. One of the sides is dived on the Saturday and the other side on the Sunday. Each treasure pot has a number inside and each number corresponds to an allocated prize.

We had a good bunch of guys on the boat both days and the event went very well as always. Please check out the photos of the event below...

Interns and divers assembling at the dive shop Leaving Pattaya Bay for Koh Nok (Laem Chabang) Lazy days soaking up the sun.
Interns and divers congregating in the morning ready for the treasure hunt. Leaving Pattaya bay for Koh Nok - the dive site of the treasure hunt. Looking stressed!!! Chilling out and contemplating the prizes on offer.

Once at Koh Nok a briefing was given to all of the participants and all set off to the lower deck to gear up. Aine, Christine and Stuart stayed on the boat as dry divemaster cover. Good job too really as just 24 hours before Stuart had been responsible for hiding the treasure pots! See some of the divers before kitting up and coming back with their prizes...

Not really sure why Alex has a wetsuit - he never wears one when diving. Good buddy system. Rose assisting with Chris's buddy check. Just take the picture so that we can get in!
Bryan and the Pointer Lindsay ready for a dive Smug - won the first prize already!!!
Bryan and the "Pointer" during the surface interval. Lindsay looking ready for a prize dive. Dee and Bryan looking pretty happy with securing the first prize.
Pointer and Christine on boat cover for the divers. Jamie ready for the plunge Christine looking on over Koh Nok - the treasure site.
Pointer and Christine looking on for surfacing divers - hard work indeed. Jimbo looking ready! Christine with Koh Nok in the background.
Manx looking like he knows something that we don't. Our more mature divers Hugh down from Bangkok for the day.
Manx looking as if he knows something that we don't. One of our mature divers! Hugh down from Bangkok for the day. (He used to be in Grange Hill).
Alex with his 2 winning treasure pots. Bryan and Dee Taking 5 minutes from boat cover for a dip.
Alex showing his 2 winning treasure pots. You can hold your hands up as much as you wish but we know they're hidden in your BCD Bryan! Taking 5 minutes for a mid day cooling dip.
Georga with his winning number????? Georga spills the beans... Relaxed tied diver push - well for Lucy anyway!
Mmmm! Winner? Ok, you pulled NO#1 for the first prize - just a shame that it was from last year! Guys talking passed strategy. I rather feel Bry and Dee saying how it should be done. Alex performing his rescue tired diver tow (push). Lucy lapping it up in her shades.

The presentation of the prizes was at the Captain's Corner Restaurant over a wonderful barbeque and buffet. The captain's corner is the location of our training swimming pool. A very pleasant setting indeed. We had the meal and presentation and then on to TQ2 for a little party and celebration after - as always a very good night was had.

One of the long tables at the Captain's corner. Gary collecting his intergrated BCD and reg set prize. Round of applause for the winners.
The evening always begins with a wonderful meal. Gary collecting his BCD with integrated regulator prize - a very good prize indeed. Round of applause for the winners.

Frisk this man for additional prizes! No longer the pointer but the pointee. Lee and Stu. The guys and gals after the days diving and the meal.
The treasure girls. Aine_Lee_Lucy_Jase enjoying the night.
Just the gals. Aine, Lee, Lucy and Jase sharing a pose.

The entire Saturday was superb with some great prizes being handed out. Bryan and Dee won the dive computer, Lucy a night in a plush hotel and Alex 2 nights and 3 days at the Baan Phu resort in Koh Chang. Sunday we had the 2nd day of the treasure hunt with the prizes being handed out over a pizza party at the shop on Jomtien.

Come and join us for the next...
